Hello St. Sophia Dancers,
I hope you all had a terrific summer.
Attached is the registration form for the Greek Dance groups for the 2016-2017 season. Please complete it and return to me by October 2, 2016, and be sure to read the second page which describes the rules for the Dance Groups.
Once again, we will not be charging tuition for St. Sophia Stewards this year; however, each student MUST be registered to participate.
Our next practices will be on October 2nd. Start time is 1pm. We will also plan to dance at St. George in Media on October 8th or 9th (please let me know which is better for you). Looking forward to a great year! If you have any questions, please contact me at 610-905-7883 or email@example.com.
Looking forward to a great season of Greek Dance!
St. Sophia’s new Greek Dance instructor, Carnation Karros, began teaching dance to the children of our parish in the Spring of 2013. There are about 30 participants in the junior and senior “Asteria” dance groups and they proudly represented the church during our festivals, special events as well as the festivals of our sister parishes in the Delaware Valley. It is wonderful to watch the dance groups perform and also nice to have so many people join in and dance the “Kalamatiano” with them. They did an amazing job and all their hard work paid off. Although learning the Greek dances requires a commitment to attend the practices regularly, the children and teenagers also have fun learning and dancing together. They are learning dances from the regions of Epirus, Macedonia, Pontos, and various Islands of Greece.
